Admission

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ADMISSION

For Certificate Courses:

Participants need not have any background in working with computers, however, it is necessary that the individual shows an affinity for working with electrical or electronic devices. Participants seeking admission to programmes must satisfy the minimum matriculation requirements of four subjects (in general proficiency ) at:

  • 3 CXC subjects to Grade 3 level (from 1998), or
  • 3 G.C.E. ‘O' level subjects to Grade C level, or
  • 3 U.L.C.I. subjects to the “pass” level , or
  • recognized equivalence

 

For Diploma Courses:

Participants need not have any background in working with computers, however, it is necessary that the individual shows an affinity for working with electrical or electronic devices. Participants seeking admission to programmes must satisfy the minimum matriculation requirements of four subjects (in general proficiency ) at:

  • 4 CXC subjects to Grade 3 level (from 1998) or equivalent

( example of equivalence to CXC at Grade 3 level include G.C.E. ‘O' level subjects to Grade C level and U.L.C.I. subjects to the “pass” level )

These subjects should include English language which is compulsory and a numeric subject.

For Associate Degree or Bachelor Degrees (F – Full Degree):

Participants need not have any background in working with computers; however, it is necessary that the individual shows an affinity for working with electrical or electronic devices.

Participants seeking admission to programmes must satisfy the minimum matriculation requirements of five subjects (in general proficiency ) at: - 5 CXC subjects to Grade 3 level (from 1998) or equivalent

Subjects must include English Language and Mathematics!

For Bachelor Degrees (C - Completion Degrees):

Completion Programmes are designed for students who have successfully completed a related programme of study at the Associate level. These degrees represent the final two years of a Bachelor’s degree programme.

For the Bachelor of Science in Technology Management -participants must have completed the VTI ASCST program or an accredited Associate Degree in a recognized technical programme of a minimum 60 credits.

For the Bachelor of Science in Information & Communication Technology -participants must have completed the VTI ASCST program or a similar accredited Associate Degree of a minimum 60 credits.

Admission as Mature Student

Individuals at or above the age of 25 years at time of application, and seeking to enroll in a programme without satisfying the above-mentioned matriculation requirements, may qualify under the MATURE student status. An assessment will be made by the Executive Director to determine qualification.

Acceptance

The application form will be used to capture the one-time registration of the student to the Institute after the student has submitted evidence of satisfying the matriculation requirements.
The application form must be submitted with:

  • proof of academic standing, and identity
  • passport size picture of student.

 

Cancellations

A student may withdraw from the program or a particular module, however, all such cancellations are subjected to the following penalty:

  • Cancellations made ten or more working days before the commencement date of the program or module will attract a penalty of 5% of course fee.
  • Cancellations made between four to ten working days before the commencement date of the program or module will attract a penalty of 10% of course fee.
  • Cancellations made less than four working days before the commencement date of the program or module will attract a penalty of 20% of course fee.

 

Once the program or module commences, the student is liable for the full cost.

Fees/ Payment Plans

Fees are set on an annual basis for each programme. Several payment plans are available to facilitate flexible payment dates over a five month period. A payment plan application form (PPAF) must be completed and approval obtained. In exceptional cases the terms of payment may differ, however all must ensure that the PPAF is adhered to as it may affect future applications.

Refunds

Fees are refundable subject to the cancellation policy. However, once a student has started attending classes, he/she will be liable for the full cost of the course.
