LEAD STORY
July 14, 2008 - The University Council of Jamaica has announced that the institute's Associate Degree In Computer Systems Technology has been granted accreditation status. Following on its accreditation visit in November 2007, the council of the UCJ approved the recommendations of the visiting team to accredit the programme. The UCJ functions as the sole accreditation body in Jamaica and is governed by its mandate in assuring quality in tertiary education. Part of its responsibility includes the granting and conferral of degrees, diplomas or certificates for accredited programmes and to register tertiary institutions that have met the required educational standards.

The Institute held the 2007 Graduation Ceremony on December 2 at the Knutsford Court Hotel in Kingston. |
In his welcome address, Board Chairman, Dr. Wayde Marr charged the graduates to become active participants in the running of the country. He reminded graduates that they held the advantage of being strategically placed to lead and guide Jamaica through its technological development.
Guest speaker Mr. Nigel Henry, President of the Jamaica Computer Society heralded the achievements of the students of the Northern Carribean University who secured third position in Microsoft's Imagine Cup competition. Mr. Henry encouraged graduates to follow in their footsteps and challenged the graduates to seek to innovate and compete in the wider global environment.
